Laney grew up in Forsyth County, and learned how to swim when she was 6. Her love for the water led her to work at the Cumming Aquatic Center for two years as a lifeguard, and then as a swim instructor. She has completed the WSI certification, and of course, holds her BLS/CPR from the American Red Cross.
Laney graduated Forsyth Central High School, and will be attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham to compete on their track team as a heptathlete. Heptathlons, by the way, are a 7 event, 2 day track and field competition. (What?!?- yep. She’s pretty much Wonder Woman!) She will be studying exercise science, to follow the path of becoming a physical therapist. She is involved in her church, Grace Fellowship, and a member of their mission team in South America. She loves working with kids, and loves being part of the TRUGrit Team!
“My favorite thing about teaching swimming is watching the kids accomplish things they didn’t think they could. And enjoying it!” -Laney
